Reclaimed architectural materials, spray paint, foam.
Stuffed Windows is part of a series of works by Las Vegas based multidisciplinary artist Faith Purvey that examines transitory, rural, and abandoned buildings in the American landscape.
Purvey responds to place through photography, painting and sculpture, crafting arrangements of storefront windows that are haphazardly concealed by material compositions. Exploring the remnants of human presence, Purvey’s installation considers ideas of the hidden versus the visible, asking what is left behind when nobody is watching. A melancholic expression of memory, architecture, and potential energy, Stuffed Windows points to societal themes of loss of industry, home, social connections, and to economic decline.
