Off Center: The Tamarind Institute

The exhibition Off Center: New Mexico Art 1970-2000 examines the rich and pivotal time in contemporary art in New Mexico. While the focus of this period is often the artists who shaped it, there are organizations who also made significant and lasting contributions. Among these is the Tamarind Institute. Often credited with revitalizing fine art lithography in the United States, the Tamarind Institute offers a unique convergence point for artists, students, printers, collectors and educators. This comprehensive and unique dedication to lithography has earned the institute a place in both the history of lithography and the art history of New Mexico.
Join University of New Mexico Art Museum Curator of Prints and Photographs, Mary Statzer and New Mexico Museum of Art Head of Curatorial Affairs, Christian Waguespack for a discussion about the role this important institution has played in contemporary art history.
Held at the University of New Mexico Art Museum in Albuquerque, second floor.
