N.M. Art Book Club
- May 04, 2025
12:00 PM - 1:30 PM - Plaza Building

Is there anything more enjoyable than looking at art and talking about books? We at the Museum Library don’t think so and that’s why we host an art-themed book club!
This month we will be discussing Rebels in Paradise: The Los Angeles Art Scene and the 1960s by Hunter Drohojowska-Philp along with Harvey Mudd’s The Plain of Smokes. Published by Arabesque Books in 1981, The Plain of Smokes is a 75-page book of poetry by Mudd with illustrations by Price.
The New Mexico Museum of Art is privileged to own one edition of only 26 copies of The Plain of Smokes printed by SOMA Fine Art Press in San Francisco by master printer Gary Lichtenstein. Our discussion will take place in the gallery where 26 prints from The Plain of Smokes alongside ceramic works by Ken Price are currently on exhibition.
Join us for this exploration of the evolution of the Los Angeles art scene and its connection to New Mexico at the NM Museum of Art Plaza Building May 4 at Noon.
