Carlos Carulo Presents a Fifty-Year Overview of His Art: A Special Talk and Screening Event
- January 17, 2025
3:30 PM - 4:30 PM - Vladem Contemporary
Chilean-American painter and fifty-year resident of Santa Fe, Carlos Carulo, will give an overview of his long, successful painting career from early works in Amsterdam and Argentina on through the next five decades of artistic development in Northern New Mexico. His talk will be accompanied by examples showing his evolution from the 1970s to the present.
Following Carulo’s talk, filmmaker Michael W. Barnard will introduce an exclusive screening of a 20-minute preliminary version of “Carlos’s World(s) – Art, Science & the Land of Enchantment”, the first stage of a planned feature length film. The film explores the power of Northern New Mexico’s unique landscape and the juicy, synergistic combination of artists, scientists, and the multi-layered cultural world of Santa Fe and Northern New Mexico through the lens of Carlos Carulo’s aesthetic and philosophical explorations. The original 12-minute version of this film was an Official Selection of the 2023 Santa Fe International Film Festival.
