The 2012 Governor’s Awards for Excellence in the Arts exhibition, featuring the work of the recipients, will open September 14, from 3:30-4:30 p.m., in the Governor’s Gallery, 4th Floor, of the State Capitol. The award ceremony will be held that evening, 5:15 - 7:00 p.m., in the St. Francis Auditorium, New Mexico Museum of Art in Santa Fe. Open to the public.

New World: Timeless Visions

New World: Timeless Visions is the biennial membership exhibition of the International Academy of Ceramics (IAC), which is holding its biennial conference in Santa Fe in September 2012. The exhibition includes the work of more than 140 IAC members, providing visitors with a glimpse of some of the innovative and exciting contemporary ceramics being created around the globe.

When the Museum of Art was established in 1917 the building was designed and built in a style to celebrate the historic qualities of New Mexico but the institution was created to exhibit artwork contemporary for that time.

Between the Lines: Culture and Cartography on the Road to Statehood is part of the state’s 2012 Centennial celebration. The exhibition explores how cartographers interpreted New Mexico’s land, its physical and political boundaries, and the cultural minglings of Native, Spanish, Mexican, and American people.

It's About Time: 14,000 Years of Art in New Mexico

Traces art in the American Southwest from the earliest Clovis culture to the present. It’s About Time emphasizes the prime objects of artistic change as part of the centennial celebration of New Mexico statehood.
